HashPack Wallet Receives Funding From HBAR Foundation

Today it was announced that HashPack, a browser-based wallet built on Hedera Hashgraph, has received funding from the HBAR Foundation.

HashPack is designed to support Hedera’s native token HBAR, other Hedera Token Service (HTS) cryptocurrencies, as well as NFTs minted on Hedera.

In particular, the wallet allows users to display their NFTs in an in-wallet gallery and also supports secure peer-to-peer NFT trading.

CEO of HashPack May Chan said that is their goal to “build critical infrastructural tools that reduce friction for users and developers.“

HBAR Foundation Grant Allocation

In September 2021, the Hedera Governing Council announced that it would be allocating over 10 billion HBARs towards the development of the eco-system, and indicated that a significant portion of that would go to startups and developers like HashPack who are building on Hedera. To date, the Foundation has awarded 19 grants.

Hedera and NFTs

The development of a web-based wallet like HashPack arguably comes at a particularly crucial time for Hedera. As the NFT space continues to explode, and vulnerabilities or shortcomings of some other prominent networks are exposed, Hedera will be vying for its slice of the pie.
