Hedera Powers Hyundai and Kia’s Carbon Emission Monitoring System

Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have announced the launch of their Supplier CO2 Emission Monitoring System (SCEMS) on Hedera. This cutting-edge blockchain-based system is set to transform carbon emissions management and revolutionize supply chains.

SCEMS is designed to compute carbon emissions at every stage of the supply chain, providing Hyundai and Kia with reliable data across their supplier’s operations, from raw material procurement to product transportation.

Hedera noted in a blog post yesterday that the combination of AI technology with their high-performance DLT network would enable SCEMS to set carbon reduction targets and accurately predict future emissions. This would allow Hyundai, Kia, and their partners to stay ahead of local and global environmental regulations.

Seung Hyun Hong, Head of Materials Research and Engineering Center at Hyundai Motor and Kia, said that “Blockchain technology holds the key to a revolutionary approach in managing carbon emissions and combating climate change, ushering in a new era of sustainable supply chains within our cooperative network”.
